Started a new job this week, and happily they have a Comdial FXII FXCBX system. I noticed something didn't seem right with the system though... See if you can spot what I assume was an assembly error at the factory: Need a better hint? ![[Linked Image from lh5.googleusercontent.com]](https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZrHIhGqPCoI/U-A44gn-UxI/AAAAAAAAEhY/kBW7JLH6gcA/s800/P20354001.jpg) You can imagine how well that worked...

Those are the old FXT/FXS series and if I remember right they were designed that way as the cabinet had no slots for ventilation...only the front power supply. I think it was one to suck in outside air and the other to evacuate air circulating over the power components.

Shouldn't the fans be on the opposite sides of the chassis if one draws air in and the other shoots it out

Fan?? One sucking in and the other blowing out?? Yup! Considering how hot everything was getting no, I don't think it was set up correctly. All the fans were doing was recirculating the same hot air across the power supply. I called Hoosier's and they confirmed both fans should be blowing out, which is how I set up my system. The cabinet is much cooler to the touch now, and I can only assume the boards inside are as well. -J

A few of them came out that way and there was a tech bulletin to flip the one fan around. I remember this because I had about 5 I had to go out and flip the fan on.They ran hot but they worked so no problem as they were only in service for a few months before I got the bulletin.

On a separate note make sure you have the magic code written down as they are hard to get now. Also having the bin file may come in handy

I noted the magic code right away The cabinet is now cool to the touch. The phone installers had suggested the school leave the door on the system off so it stays cool *rolleyes* -J
