I just purchased a used system that the seller said was from a working environment. I need help with the system, cant seem to get the phones to have any power.

The system came with:
Voice mail module a tvs-200(not hookedup at all rightnow.)
8ext box and an 4co box
13 phones kx-t7230.

As of rightnow the tvs has not been connected back up by myself. I simply connected jack on the kx-td1232(I will refer to this as the ksu from here on out) co1/2 to a single phone line. I simply got the amphenol cable I had that has already been connected to the punch block. I connected to a phone wire to pin to a 4wire phone cord at the jack that says "To EMSS". I than stripped the phone wire and connected the outer two to D1 and D2 of the jack for ext# 1. These are wires 27 for D1, and 2 for D2 on the punch block. I also tested the punch bock by connecting this wire into 26/1 and connected that to an analog phone and I have dial tone. Going back to connecting the digital phone(kx-t7230) via the outter two pins of the jack on the phone and to pins 27/2 I get a popping sound on the phone but the display doesnt display anything. What could I be doing wrong? Why cant I get the display to turn on and show anything on the screen?

I have only hooked up one extension and that is 1, and i've tried 2 of the 13 phones and both do the same thing. ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!@!!

I think you would be better served by a Panasonic tech in your area.
There are too many unknowns ,starting at a used system ,probably
and your lack of any basic knowledge of telephony,
No insult intended .

Can anyone give me some general direction or some support of any kind. I'm a computer science grad. I've installed a more basic Panasonic phone system before with no problems. I can follow along along pretty well. Just working on a really tight budget.

1 get model number of phone system

2 get manual

3 Read manual, (the part on how to wire phones for that system)

This is an end user forum.

Model number is listed above:
Kx-td1232

Read the manual connect as specified per the manual!
This is the first forum I've been to where no one wants to help! I've done something similar to this, I'm able to connect a standard analog phone to the t r of any jack and have connectivity with no problems. Anyone want to help!

Is system programmed to use XDP?

You need to read manual.

With XDP off- uses 2 pair

With XDP on- only needs 2nd pair

Brokeda,
Thanks for your reply and direction. I absolutely dont know if XDP is on or off. Since my phone display wont show anything I cant get into programming. I did read that I can do programming through a computer and a serial cable, however what software do I use? Look I do truely appreciate any and all help yourself and anyone is providing. Im just trying to get the basics of this phone working. I have tested jack 1, wire 26/1 into a single line standard phone and I have dial tone, I've also tried that on jack 2, wire 29/4, and a few more. So I know the amphenol cable is hooked up correctly. I tried switching data 1 and data 2 around to see if that was the problem but still popping sound and no display on the screen of the phones. PLEASE HELP MORE.

Keep looking. Jack 04 is sometimes the "manager's phone". It will give you limited access to programming. If you get there and the display doesn't work on any phone....well, try port 9. Be sure your cabinet is in the MASTER mode and not slave. If none of these work, it hardly matters, because programming from a serial port won't help you. The other thing you can do is put analog phones on jack 01 and 02, without anything on the digital ports. By default, they become 101 and 102.

Special thanks to:
Brokeda, Carl Navarro, and Bopper for the help and direction.

It turns out my problem was very embarasing. I googled a diagram of the punchdown panel and saw the order was 1 2 3 4, etc. And thats what I was using. It turns out that the order is actually 26 1 27 2 28 3 29 4 etc... As soon as I fixed that my wiring. The display on the phone powered right up.

I was able to figure this out as I noticed on the amphenol connector diagram that 1 was blue white and 2 was orange white, however on my punch down block, i was hitting like blue and blue white. Thanks everyone for being patient with me.
