Hello,
I'm picking up service on an XTS-IP system. It also has a Vodavi Digital Voicemail.
Do I need software to admin the system and voicemail? Anyone know where I could acquire a copy?
Thanks!

The XTS programs through a terminal program like Hyperterm or the likes or through the phone. There is a windows program but I suggest not using it as it creates headaches!!
on the Voicemail it depends which one you have. Is it a stand alone Pathfinder? InSkin Pathfinder? Or purple box Digital TalkPath? Depending on which one there is software available.

Thank you so much, I do have Hyperterminal. Do you know what cable is needed? Just a standard DB9?
The voicemail is external, purple and says, Vodavi Digital Voice Mail.

yeah just a standard straight through db9 cable.
The voice mail is a Digital Talk path and requires the VmAdmin software and uses a null modem db9 cable.
I will pm you a link to the VmAdmin software

Thank you,
I can't seem to connect to this system at all. I have my laptop running HyperTerminal, I have a bombproof usb-serial adapter that works on EVERYTHING, I am using a straight through DB9 cable that I use with Comdial DX-80s and everything else, and I have a genderbender on because the port on the MPB2 card is male.
The system is an XTS-IP
I connect at 19200, 8 none and none (or Xoff). I hit ENTER and nothing...

Hmmm... okay, I plugged into the bottom port (Com2 SWC1) and I get a prompt
300 Digital Hybrid Key-System Eng. Ver. 3.00-2FE3 DATE: 11/18/14 TIME: 10:26:33 ENTER PASSWORD:
I enter the default password and no characters display on screen. I hit ENTER after I type it and I get a carriage return to a new line. If I retype the password or press ENTER again it just comes up with the same splash screen above asking for a password.

Are you following the four digit numerical entry with the word VODAVI? If so, then the password has been changed by the original system installer.

Yes I am.
The four numbers is the same as you would put into the phone?

Yes, they are. Sounds as if your password has been changed. Is there a backup copy of the system's database available? If so, you can initialize the system and reload the data, but aside from that, there really isn't much else that can be done.
