I have been asked to find documentation on a used Inter-Tel Axxess system. Do I need to know what software version this system has before looking for the documentation; if so, how do I find the software version with the system disconnected at this point?

Any help would be appreciated.

Documentation is definitely version dependant as hardware and features are differnet based on the software version. The old, say 3 generations back on Axxess you could ID the version by looking at the ROM chips on the CPU-MEM/CPU120 card but the past 2 gens you cannot tell by looking. If you can connect serially and boot the CPU card it will show you the CP/Boot version.
