We have 20+ 8600 series IP phones. Until now, I've had no problems getting them programmed. I have a new phone that will not allow me to enter programming. It does not respond to pressing the 7 and 8 during boot up. Nor does it display the firmware version. It does not accept the standard user id and password on the web interface. In the past, if the phone could not connect to the server, it defaulted to a screen showing the IP and MAC address. This device is requesting me to "enter config url". Labels on the bottom of the phone indicate it is a SIP enabled device. Our system is not set up for SIP. Have I been given the wrong phone? Is there a way to manually default the settings on the phone?

I found the instructions for switching the phone between Axxess IP and SIP modes using the keypad during boot up. It did nothing.

It sounds like it has the 7000 firmware on it. did you buy it new from Inter-Tel or a dealer?

Inter-Tel. It has a sticker labeled "IT 7000" on the bottom. Can I use it, or does it need to be exchanged?

You should be able to upgrade (not literal) to make it work with the 5000/Axxess. You will need the firmware and a TFTP server. Let me check for the specific procedure it seems that I read that it can be done but I have never done it myself. Standby...

I would have done this if someone had not already changed the user ID and password on the phone. The phone has been exchanged.

Thanks

I've got the same issue with a batch of 7 x 8622's and I can't get into self programming. Could you possibly send me the instructions for a manual firmware upgrade?

Cheers
