I'm enjoying my 1a2 stuff in the office, and have been thinking about purchasing a 4a speakerphone setup. So, it looks like I'll need a 108a speaker assembly, 680a transmitter, 82b block and power supply? It looks like the 82b block is extremely hard to find. Are there other options to wire without the block? Are there other speakerphone options out there for the 1a2 system that are close to the 4a setup in sound quality that are easier/cheaper to find? Thanks again for all the help.

You need the 680A transmitter, the 108A speaker (which includes all the electronics) an 85-type transformer (18Vac) and the appropriate adapter for the type of telephone you are planning to use.
If you are using a 565 or 2565, you need the 82B.
If you are using an 830 or 2830, you need a different set-up, the 223-type. That's because the 830-series phones do not have the requisite number of mounting cord leads to provide speakerphone service.
There is a 223C adapter on Ebay right now, It's intended to be used on a ComKey 416 set, but can be adapted for use on a x565 or x830 set.
Do a search for "512-700-100 BSP" to see all the possibilities.

I've collected a NOS speaker and transmitter to match my mint 2565hkms, the proper power supply, a 223c adapter and a 149b connecting block. I haven't done any physical connections yet, but I think I have everything figured out except 5 leads at the M 16 connector. There are 2 BI and 2 RI leads, which I assume are ringer leads (?) and a BL lead, which would be a busy lamp lead (?) Are they needed and if so, where would they go. On the ringer side, I noticed on the 149 block, pin 20 and 45 terminate at screws 1 and 2 on each side of the block, so I would assume nothing would ring without jumping those terminals. Would that be where the above mentioned leads go? Thanks again for the input.

You are correct with regard to the B1 and R1 terminals on the 149B. They are the yellow/slate pair and they must be bridged in order to carry that pair through to the set.
The 223C adapter was meant to be wired directly into a set that didn't have the appropriate pairs in the line cord, such as a 2830 or Comkey. I know that the 149B offers the appropriate slate pairs for 4A connections, but I have never seen one done this way. Have you tried to locate the BSP for the 4A?

I do have the BSP for the 4a. Not much in there for the 223. I was able to trace out the wires from the schematic for the 2565, plus the schematic for the 82b to find the the 25 pair pin number, then to cross that to the schematic for the 149 screw terminals. On the 82b, the mystery wires go to the option plug. Everything else looks like it will work.

FYI - it worked perfectly. For future reference, I'll describe what was done.
The 223 cable ties into the 149b block terminals as follows: O/W-11A BL/W-7A W/G-10A G/W-9A W-BL-8A W/O-12A W/BR-A1 1A jumpered to 1B 2A jumpered to 2B (both to carry ringing across) The 2565 was wired per BSP
