Anyone have any problems using the phontage softphone with Windows 8? I see where it will work with 7, but no indication about 8.

I don't think there should be an issue. I usually run into more problems with using 64 bit over 32 with some older Vodavi CTI apps. There was no mention when I attended class that Windows 8 had any issues.

Thanks Derrick. I am trying to sell the softphone solutions to a customer who has Maximizer CRM. The Maximizer has a built-in dialer and is now operating on a Toshiba system which I didn't even know had a TAPI interface. The Toshiba 424 just uses phone and the handset lifter. I am trying to find out from Maximizer whether I can overide their dialer and use the softphone. The customer has Widows 7 now, but thinks it's going to 8 next year. Again thanks for your imput. tk

Can the Summit do TAPI dialing via the phones? Haven't tried it, but it probably can. Not sure if the softphone app will work like you want. Have you tried it?

TAPI can be a strange animal especially if you are using a serial connection as opposed to a server/client based program. I think I would talk to tech support about this and verify compatibility. However if you are planning to replace Maximizer with Phontage, I think you should be okay.
Derrick.

Haven't tried it. Read the Lg phontage manual. It looks like it will work fine as 1st party TAPI. It even has a 3rd party option. And no, the customer wants to keep the Maximizer program. It looks scary and I know I am over my head but I need to sell something or my wife is going to kick me out of the house. I wish I had one on the bench to test, but.....

I've used Phontage a bit over the years, bit I've never seen a TAPI option. Did this just come out on a new version? Phontage will allow you to import a database from Outlook, or others. You can also use an LDAP search. The eMG80 will do 1st-party TAPI out of the box, so I assume that the Summit will also. This is a good selling point because your customer can essentially dial directly from Outlook without having to purchase anything else. (Note this only works if they are on the same LAN as the phone system.) Here's a cheat sheet: https://ournewphone.com/index.php/lg-ipecs-training/65-lg-ipecs-tapi-driver-installationThe video was done with the IPECS-LIK, but I verified that it does work with the eMG80.

Thank you for the link. Very informative. The new Summit offers two free licenses for the phontage softphone so as soon as our receivables get a little higher we will purchase a bench kit and try it. Of course, then I will just be typing in more questions on the forum. Gotta say, this is the best place in town for any kinda of help. tk
