Hi! I recently bought a used system and I want to install it in my home. I need some help in learning where to wire up the extensions, however, and configuring the system. Am I in for a monumental task? Or should this be an easy job? Does anyone have a spare set of manuals they don't need anymore?

you would be better off installing a avaya partner system in a house. you can use analog phones with it.

why bother with an old dinosaur.........

I believe the question was about an Isotec EZ1 not an AVAYA.

If the EZ1 is in working order then buy all means put it in your house. You will have to run home run cables for each station. I'm sure a moderator for this category can help you with the manuals. If not you can get one at Manuals Plus in hard copy at a good price.

Yes it is in working order... I have three extension phones and the ksu and that's it. I have no problem doing the necessary wiring (or converting that I have)... I just have no clue how to connect the three extensions to the ksu. It's a EZ1-18 model, I did discover that much. With my Merlin it was easy --- cable to jack on the box. It doesn't appear to be as easy here.

I found the manualsplus link and another that will sell a cd-rom version of manuals for $20. Just was hoping for a heads-up kind of explanation before going thru that procedure.

It's been a long time since I've worked on one, is there a couple of little blocks on the bottom of the system itself were it looks like you would hook up the stations or is there a female 25 pair plug for a feed? Are you replacing the Merlin in your house? If so then your wiring is done the EZ1 uses 2 or 3 pair (can't remember which)You would be better off waiting for one of the Executone/Isoetec moderators to work with you.

most likely the latter -- the Merlin is still hooked up in my office -- not anywhere near my house.

I opened the cae and just above the lower electronics, there is a far left and far right male 40-pin side-clipped connector - apparently for some sort of clip on pc-board. Just above the left clip is a black 50-pin 'centronics' type connector like I've seen on SCSI stuff or on the back of printers. Along the bottom edge there are six rj jacks labelled j1 thru j6 for each of up to six incoming phone lines. To the left and right of this cluster of six are single rj jacks labelled j9 and the other is j16.

The stations use 2 pair and yes they connect up to the 25 pair amphenol on the upper left of the ksu circuit board.The CO lines connect to the jacks on the bottom of the ksu but there is also a jack there for ext. 32 which you program from.Stations punch down from the w/bl w/o pair which is ext. 31.All programming for this switch is done from a telephone connected to ext. 32.There is a slide switch on the bottom of the ksu to enable programming.

I am not a phone installer. I run a business and we have had an EZ1 for 17 years. It was used when we installed it back then. The problem is that all of the sudden, only one phone is ringing and when someone is on that phone nothing else rings. Need some help. Thanks
