Hi All,
I have a 5000 system with both IP and digital phones running on it. I have an executive user who has an office in two locations but only one DID included on his business card.
Location 1 has x9216 with his associated DID. Location 2 has x9211.
When he's in Loc 1 and he's not able to answer his calls or he's busy he wants the calls to go to voicemail. When he's in loc 2 he wants the calls forwarded to his Loc 2 phone and if he doesn't answer or is busy/DND wants the calls to got to his voicemail.
I setup an IP phone in each location with the respective ext #s. On x9216 I set Forwarding Path 1 to forward to Voicemail on all calls when busy or no answer. On x9216 I set Forwarding Path 2 to forward all calls when DND to dest 1 - x9211 and dest 2 - voicemail.
When I make a call (external or IC) to x2916 the Forwarding path 1 works fine. When I put his x9216 on DND then the calls forward to x9211 ok, but if he doesn't answer it just rings, if x9211 is busy the call waits and DND gives a busy tone.
The wierd thing is that when I call x9216 from a phone on another networked system the call runs through perfectly and goes to voicemail if x9211 is busy, DND or no answer.
The following conditions is what I'm after.
call -> x9216 (noanswer/busy) -> VM call -> x9216 (DND) -> x9211 (noanswer/busy/DND) -> VM
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Trevor.

This seems to be the hard way. If he's already going to the trouble of placing 9216 into DND to force the forwarding, why not just forward the phone to 9211? Then you will be able to keep standard forwarding.
To keep it easy for him, you may have 9211 forward to VM 9216 so he'll only have to deal with one mailbox.

If I do this how do I forward his x9211 to the 9216 voicemail if he's busy or he doesn't answer?
Thanks,
Trevor.

Just keep in mind that manual forwarding will not follow system forwarding. So say if 1000 forwards a their phone to 2000 and 2000 is system forwarded to vm. A call to 1000 will never forward to vm. Now if the call was from auto attendant or transfered from another user it will eventually recall to the transfer destination.

I just don't understand why the setup I have doesn't work. Or rather it works if I call from a phone thats on another networked system but not if the phone is attached to the local system.
I have a similar setup on another system where if the executive doesn't answer then it forwards to his secretary and if she doesn't answer it forwards to his voicemail and it works fine.

What does your second forwarding point show? Do you have two separate voice mail servers? If you have your second point on path 2 pointing to VM on node 1 try to set it to a CRA that times out to his mailbox and see if that works. I have seen times where forwarding paths wont work for unknown reasons. As a last ditch effort blow away his forwarding paths, recreate them then reassign the conditions.
