Been MANY years since I've tied 2 dissimilar PBXs together so my memory and skills on the methods are dull Anyone have suggestions on how best to make intercom calls and call xfers between sites painless? Since I know the Mitel (and not the Panasonic) I would assume I would use a T1 card and define channels as E&M. I wonder if its possible to use ARS to add digits so the users wouldn't have to dial trunk access code before dialing extension number in other system? Have no idea how to setup T1 card on other end (Pana). NOTE: Both systems will be in same server room so a point-to-point cable/method makes sense to me. Your thoughts Mitel gurus? THANKS! Mike

Agreed, it's been years. Let's see if I can dust off some cobwebs...
Using the T1 card, set up your outgoing channels as OPX and inbound as loop start. The PBX receiving those calls can accept them as regular loop start trunks. Do the same at the other end, and you can receive their calls the same way. Once you jump on the outbound trunk group, you receive dial tone from the other end and can dial extensions.
Number the trunk group with a single digit, the same as the first digit of the extensions on the other end. Let's use 6 as an example. Then build an ARS dial rule that inserts a 6 on that trunk group, just like you would add a 9 for Centrex.
You dial "extension" 622. The 6 grabs dial tone on the trunk group, which then receives 22 to dial out. ARS adds the 6 back in, and the call is sent over the tie line as 622.
If I remember correctly, this should work. I'm clueless with what to do with the Panasonic.

THANKS 'DND ON'! I really appreciate your input.
I have a question though.. Is there a way to program different "mode" (OPX, LS) for inbound and outbound on same T1 card?? I don't think there is. Also, I have 3 different extension ranges on the Panasonic (100s,200s,300s) so I think I'll be forced to make them 4-digit dial (i.e 6 + ext#). I have that working right now in our lab but we have one-way audio. The Panasonic caller can hear the Mitel caller but not the other way around. Call can go in either direction and same half-audio. Surprisingly though, if I TRANSFER a live call over to the other system (either direction), the internal recipient and outside caller can hear each other fine. Go figure??
Current config is both systems have their T1 cards set for ESF/BZ8, start type WINK, channels are E&M, and each system is set for all channels to go straight to DISA.

You can configure each channel on the same card independently, the system doesn't care. In my example, I would split the card in half and create two trunk groups, one inbound and the other outbound.
The one-way audio is a puzzle to me. I haven't run into that on E&M trunks.
