Gents,

I've been trying to maintain a 2400 IMS IMG for a small university in Iowa. I have no specific NEC training, but a lot of experience dealing with the machine.

I back up the Office Data regularly, using the DMBU command. There is another command I've noticed called MMBU, which backs up the generic switch program. Is this necessary to back up?
So far, I've had to change software packages several times, but never had to use MMBU there...just reload the office data with DMBU.

But with a machine this old ( and still running reliably!) I didn't want to miss an essential point...

Thanks, always gotten great advice here - much appreciated..

And, by the way, "old" means from 1984...software version is 2002

doctorphil - the generic switch program is the core os of the pbx. Because of the age of the 2400, it might be a good idea to have a backup of the generic program. A one-time backup is good as the generic never changes until an upgrade is done. Of course, you out of luck there. It wouldn't be a bad idea to budget for a new phone system. Today's phone systems have a much smaller footprint, easier to maintain and not as expensive as you would think.
