I have a client who employs a blind user. She would like to know if there is any way to get a verbal announcement for new messages. I thought the system spoke (e.g. "You have two new messages"), but that only occurs when calling in from outside.

She can manipulate the buttons, but never knows if she has messages without continually logging-in and pressing "play".

Can I set up a page to her set on new message?

Is there any special Nortel friendly equipment available for blind users?

I've looked into it and i could not find anything that would work,
something that might work would be to rig a tiny speaker to the led red message indicator light.
good luck and let us know if you find a solution

Best to add which system and software level when posting.

Norstars Bionic Betty will always come on and tell you what to do or if you have messages when you log in, she kicks in when she realizes you have not press any buttons fast enough. Perhaps you dont wait for her or you have some old software but I dont recall any software that does not do it as have not touched old stuff for awhile.

As for notification use "Off Premise Notification" to call Internal to the set in question or External to a mobile or both.
Choose your COS carefully.

Also Callpilot gives a short tone to the set as somebody enters into the mail box.

System is an MICS with 6.x & CallPilot 100 with 3.x.

As I mentioned in my original post, voicemail does NOT announce when she logs in (e.g. "You have three new messages and two saved messages") from her set. It does announce if you call in remotely.

I was thinking about futzing around with message notification, but that might get a little confusing.

Thanks all for your assistance. I'll update this post if I come up with a solution.

I see what you are saying now, she only tells you everything else.

Here is another crazy idea but requires one line to be answered by AA on 0 rings
Replace your F981 with an External auto dial key but include password and all:
9PXXX-XXX-XXXXPPP**2221234#

Even using an ATA into a spare trunk port would help and not tie up any lines at all.
