"Call can't be completed as dialed." This is the sound two of my SBX phone users heard when they dialed out on a PRI. They were working a couple of days ago and quit after the only change made was populating the outbound id number.
Here is the fun part. I transposed two digits of the exchange...I put in 489 instead of 498 and as a result...Cox blocked the outbound call. As soon as I entered the correct number things started working like they are supposed to. This was a new one for me...I have put all zeros in outbound did field on an XTS extension and I can't believe I have never put in an "invalid" number before. So is this an SBX thing or a Cox Sip-IAD softswitch PRI thing or both?

It's the way Cox provisioned the PRI. Some carriers force you to use a legit outbound number from your account.

I figured it had to do with Cox's sip-PRI service as opposed to the standard fiber t-1 PRI. It doesn't bother me, just gave me a headache for about an hour. One thing I do like is if I send a vacant did number to a tone in the SBX, it forces Cox to play the "number not in service" message, much better to ward off telemarketers, collection agencies, and other unwantatable things calling a newly re-issued phone number.
