We had a MPB1 Ver. 2.2 go bad on an XTS system with a 12-port Pathfinder IS harddrive voice mail. We replaced the 2.2 with a 3.0 and re-programmed. Everything is working fine EXCEPT now there is no MW indication, either lights or in display. Is there a software upgrade to the Pathfinder that I need to make?

Check your XTS voice mail group programming, make sure all VM port extension numbers are in group 440. The last port lights the lights and does all other notifications as well.

All 12 of the voice mail ports are in the 440 group. Unfortunately we didn't have a backup of the XTS database, so we had to rebuild from scratch. When I originally installed and programmed this system (8 years ago), the customer wanted me to match their existing extension numbers. Because of this, maybe I don't have the same 12 voice mail extensions that I originally had. If the Pathfinder was expecting to use port 12 (ext. xx1) and the new port 12 was (ext. xx7), would this cause the problem?

No, as long as all the existing flexible port numbers are in 440 it will not cause the problem. But if you changed the number of extension digits say from three to four or vice versa, then you would need to reprogram the voice mail itself to match.

The vm card type should be 18 and the subscriber numbers should match the user extension numbers. Usually when either one of these is not correct and you press a vm button, you do not get the enter password prompt, you hear "enter mailbox number" instead.

After a database reset I usually go to flash 06 and hit the vm same as ext option (button 18) just to make sure they all match up.

The problem was as you said...there were 12 extensions in the 440 group, but off by one (171 thru 182 instead of 172 thru 183). Thanks for your help!
