Hi everyone,
I have a Inter-tel Axxess v6.0.
How can I set a DID assign to a SLC for outgoing and incoming fax?
Right now, I'm able to fax out, but cannot receive fax. Also, I do not have a ring tone when I call the number; however, if you pick up the line will answer.
Note: Ring is set on the phone and extended cadence is set to yes.
I'm clueless, please help.
Thank you.

Is it an SLC16? You must have an external PS for an SLC16.

Chris,
thanks again for replying to my psoting.
No. I have a SLC8. What is an external PS? I don't understand the term or acronym.
Thanks.

Sounds like your SLC has a bad ring generator. Most SLC(8) cards have two ring generators, the first for ports 1-4 and the 2nd for ports 5-8. Try moving the fax to a port utilizing the other ring generator and see if that works. (assuming you have available spare ports)

Thanks, Drew. I didn't know this.
Could the port be set for outgoing fax only? The reason why I ask is because I know some of our fax lines are configure for outgoing fax. Also, I used a fax machine which is set for automatic pickup, but when I call the line keep ringing. Shouldn't the line pick up.
Thanks, Sang

It should, if you put your butt set right on the MDF does it ring when you call that DID? If it does then obviously your problem is with the fax machine. Check to make sure that the fax is not set for anything hokey like distinctive ring, or auto fax type stuff.

Thanks Chris,
The phone and fax does not ring when I call the DID. But if I pick up at the receiving end the call handshake. Also, no the fax is not looking for a distinctive ring or auto fax type. I don't think it's the fax machine because it's have the same no ring tone system like the analog phone and will connect only if you pickup at the receiving end.
thanks.

This may be a silly question, but is your DID routed to that extension?

Yes, the DID is routed to the extension.

if routing table is set to extension.. then there shouldn't be anything else.
Maybe a dumb one but it would be up to your fax machine to actually pick up. Did you set it to automatically answer the calls? LOL.
how is that faxing working for you anyway? based on the numerous installs I have done, faxing through the intertel system has never been a good route for me.
