I have a Polycom 6000 IP conference phone and it is register to the system, I can dial internally to other extensions, call VM etc. I can receive external calls via DID directly to the polycom. The issue I am having is dial out. Currently all ITP phones dial 9, then the 7 or 10 digit number and that works great. However when I do if from the polycom or sip softphone on my laptop I get error tone.

I do not get error tone if I dial 4, 7 or 11 digits. All others I do. The problem is if i only dial those digits the call does not go out on the trunks. If i check the connection status of the phone in the Installaiton tool it shows the SIP ext as busy, but not connected to any other port. Which makes sense because 9 would need to be dialed in order for it to grab a trunk group.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

I would check the dial plan in the Polycom phone. There might be a digit matching issue.

Could you elaborate on that? I have tried many dial plan strategies with no success. I have a feeling the samsung is not recognizing what it is suppose to do with the call. I am running wireshark and I see the call going to the Samsung. I get a SIP message back saying 480 Unavailable from the Samsung.

I have a softphone on my computer and the exact same thing happens.

I found the issue.. I had to input a CLI number for that extension in MMCXXX. I inputted the main number and now it works. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Have a look at polycom's guide for digit map/dial plans

https://support.polycom.com/global/...ce/Understanding_Digit_Maps_Tech_Tip.pdf

It will be a digit map, you should be able to see in the SIP invite message what the polycom is sending to the samsung.
This will then tell you where to look on your dial plan
