Need help with KX TA824. All extensions work as designed except one. All extensions using KX T7030 hand set.
Symptoms on problem extension (jack #4):
- Display blank
- No programmable keys operate
- Constant tone (not dial tone) when off-hook
- Keypad use will interrupt tone while depressed, but no action is initiated
- No ring tone

Troubleshooting action taken so far:
- Handset used on problem extension works as designed on any other extension. I think this eliminates handset as source of problem.
- Continuity verified on problem extension from PBX to handset. I think this eliminates line short or cut.
- Hand set connected directly to Jack #4 at PBX operates as designed. Does this eliminate PBX as source of problem?
- "Reset" PBX (I did not use the "clear data" option)
- Other handsets display same symptoms when connected to the problem extension.

Still haven't solved problem. What might I be missing?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Mark

To me the problem has got to be in the cable, jack, or termination at the system. You know the phones ok, the system ports ok,when you say you verified continuity exactly how did you verify. First thing I would do after scrutinizing terminations on both ends is to change pairs on the ststion cable. Its almost gotta be there

The only thing it can be is the wiring. If you plugged directly to the cabinet. Start hunting your wiring problem. Did you check both pairs? It takes 4 wires to run that extension.
