I would like to try adding an old Meridian Mail to an existing O11c. It doesn't seem like it should be rocket science. I have the hardware, the tape and the keycodes. I know how to change the TID if I need to. X11 is at 25.3

My problem is the link. I remember that to access MM you type "AX" at the ">" prompt.

Instructions indicate LD 48:

ENL AML 9 ACMS

Error returns that AML is not valid. Which makes sense, since it has never been set up.

So my question is: what are the parameters for LD 48 to create the link? Or, is it not created in LD 48?

Also, doesn't there need to be a LSL, too?

Some of the info is starting to come back to me. I found some notes from setting up a MM shelf on an SL1-ST from about 15 years ago, but it's different enough.

Back then the CSL was actually a cable between the ESDI and the MM shelf. Now the connection is made logically and that's the part that I'm having trouble figuring out.

I know I need to create a new AML 8 as the console connection, but don't I need to somehow "pair" it with a TTY?

Also, there needs to be an AML (9, I think) for the CSL. I don't remember the parameters for setting that up. I've got about 5500 pages of NTPs open across my desk right now and I can find everything EXCEPT what I am looking for.

Now I may be getting somewhere...I'll update this thread tomorrow...

Thanks for the input. Some days I think I would do well to point a can of compressed air in my ear and blow the dust out.
