I have a customer with the STSe voice mail card. I cant connect to it. I have an older laptop with a serial port and a new laptop with usb to serial adaptor using hyperterminal but nothing happens, no prompt. Cable is straight through. What am i missing? Thanks.

If it is a HDD vm you probably should be using admin software.

It depends which VM card you have in there. Is it hard drive type or is it Flash type. Simply look and see if you can see a hard drive and if not it would be the flash card.
IF flash it would be 9600 baud and it is a straight thru connection.

See if you can connect to the ksu through serial port 1. If not, then you have a cabling or setup issue. The vm uses the same cable.

You need a program to set the RS-232 up before you can get into the voice mail.

You should be able to connect thru Hyperterm.
