Sorry, an NEC guy here...(I know I know...but wait...read on)

Avaya IP500 w DIGSTA8/ATM4. Only I port avail, CO Port 4 (or port 12 in the system)

Can a Viking device be connected to the only open CO port and be used as a ring down device?

Be gentle on me for coming on this side of the yard but I need solid info to tell a customer whether or not they need to purchase and install (by an Avaya tech!!!) an analog single port blade or if the Viking can be connected.

Viking says it can...but I think it has to have an analog port.

Thanks in advance!-Bull

The cool thing, is that ANY phone on an IP Office can be a ring down phone.
You can create a ?D short code for that extension, and the number field dictates where the set rings as soon as it goes off hook.

But there's no EXT available its a CO port.

CO port 4 or port 12 in the system.

The 8 EXT ports are taken up by 8 Digital phones.

What is the Viking device model number that you want to connect, and can it be programmed to work with a loop start line port on the pbx?

E40 door box. I think we'll need a ringdown device in the middle of the run between the door box and the CO port on the IP500.

Yeah, you need to add a Viking DLE-200B if all you have is a trunk port.
