I have a couple of questions about IP phones and I was hoping someone could answer them for me. We have an Intertel AXXes system v10.001. We have an IP card and are using 12 or the 32 IP Ports with 8622s. We are licensed for 12 category A endpoints. Basically we wanted to know how the licensing works. Do you have to buy licenses for each phone you buy or does that mean that we can have as many IP phones as the card can handle but you can only have 12 in use at the same time. Also, we were looking at buying IP phones from ebay but are concerned about the licenses not being included. Can someone shed some light on this for us?

You need to purchase licenses for each 8622 that will be connected concurrently. ie: 12 licenses= max.12 phones. You can have more than 12 phones connected but you will receive license errors on all but 12 phones..as a license comes available another phone will connect. This is really not a viable solution, so just contact your local dealer and purchase the additional licenses as needed.

The licenses are cheap, around $110/ea.
