I have a sts home ksu, and my wanderer will display the correct station number, but will not fully register to the station to give me a dial tone.
The wanderer displays the station number, and when turned on to make a call, says "Search..." for a couple seconds then returns back to displaying a station number. It seems something is preventing full communication between the wanderer and it's base.
I have the following: STS Home KSU Wanderer 2.4 9018-75 Vodavi Starplus Sts 3552

You have to put the desktop extension in CKTU mode if memory servers me correct.
Dial 6 4 8 Press * until you see CKTU Press Hold

I should have mentioned that I already have the Starplus STS in CKTU mode. It still says "Failure" when I attempt to register the Wanderer's ID.
I have paid two repair men, called previous Vodavi employees, and no one can seem to fix this.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I am forever grateful for any help--thanks in advance!

If I were you I would by a good Panasonic,Vtech Consumer style cordless and put it on one of the built in analog ports. The coverage on the Wanderer isn't very good anyway.
I'm guessing there is an issue with the unit because I never had to more that what the User guide told you to do to set it up with your extension. You do have the cables all plugged in correctly? From wall to Waderer base then to STS phone.

I do have all the cables plugged in correctly. I probably should just get another phone that isn't outdated, but I have this Vodavi phone system wired throughout my house--which makes it more convenient just to use the wanderer (if I can get it working).
It is true that on the 2.4 GHZ wanderer, the phone will only work with one base that it is paired up with? I've heard from different Vodavi employees that the phones and bases were sold separately, and then I've also heard that each phone has only 1 base that it will pair up with.

You can mix and match. But not between 2.4GHZ & 9600. To initialize handset to base:
Simultaneously press and hold the [PAGER CALL] button on the charging base and the [FLASH] button on the handset for ten seconds... or until "REGISTER" appears on the display. (The unit will beep once to indicate registration is complete.)
I have accumulated extra bases because mostly the handset goes bad. I know of no one who repairs them anymore.
