Wow, phreaky deakie looking forum! What's the best practice for backing up the db and messages on an SVMI-20E? I am VPN'ed in and running Hyper Terminal. Which FTP program would you recommend and what's the general idea? Dankeschön!

The problem with SVMi-xxe cards is that the telnet server is built into the svm application.

This means that remote backing up is difficult as you need to connect via the sio to shut the vm down and launch the inbuilt ftp server, and then to restart the svm program.

You can backup individual files via xmodem over ip using hyperterminal or similar terminal emulation software, but this will take longer then doing it locally, due to speed and ftp can queue up files whereas the xmodem implementation on the svmi can't

Thanks Mate,

This one is in a hospital/corporate environment and the IT staff want it periodically/weekly backed up.

The IT staff are in another building down the street and it's a very large complex of hospital buildings and what not.

Any suggestions? Any spelled out actual procedures?

I actually found a sweet little program on the GSBN called SVMi BackUp and it works great over IP remotely.
