My phone rings every time an incoming call comes in and it's driving me mad. I'm not the receptionist and I am the only person outside of them that this happens with. I know how to change the ringtone to silent, but then I don't hear anything when I get a call transferred to me. How do I change it so that it doesn't ring for incoming calls but does when a call is sent to me?

Please help save my sanity!

You didn't tell us what system you have, however almost all vodavi systems require an admin/programming change to remove co line ringing from a phone. The one exception to this is if you are using a "call coverage" feature button. That option can be turned on and off at will. You know when you have this because the screen displays "call for xxx" xxx being either a name or extension number.

Sorry, I have a Vodavi 3015-71. The id does flash "Call for STA #" before switching to caller id. Is this what you're referring to? Sounds like it might be.

It does sound like call coverage. If that is what it is, a button or maybe two buttons will light up at the same time the call is ringing. One of those buttons calls the station that your phone is covering. It also lights up when that phone goes off hook to make a call. You need to change that back to a simple DSS button instead of a call coverage button. You do that by hitting the speed button twice (don't go off hook or press any other key first) then press the button that lights up and then dial the extension number for that phone or any other extension number you might want to call. You should get three confirmation beeps, hit speaker off or just lift the handset and put it back down. This should stop the ringing.
