it's saturday, I've got a dk424 that has 1 line that can make outbound calls, but inbound callers hear 1 ring and then dead air. POTS, inbound does the same thing if I pull the wires from the demarc... so, it's a verizon problem. great. I did start this saying it's saturday, right? I need to find a way to make this 1 analog trunk be busy. just disconnecting it still leaves me with unhappy inbound callers. I can do this the brute force way, and just leave a phone off the hook in the office, but SOMEBODY will come along and say "oh, the phone's off hook" and hang it back up. *mutter mutter mutter verizon on saturdays yeah right mutter mutter*

So, that's the story. Here's the question. smile Is there ANY way, besides just leaving a phone off hook, to get this thing to be busy until I get somebody from verizon to come and play the musical pairs game? (They don't actually fix anything, you know, they just try a different pair till it works right)

Thanks!

At the Dmarc put a 600 ohm resistor across tip and ring of the line in trouble. You could do a hard short but that makes Verizon very unhappy.
Good Luck,
John

There is no command to busy out a trunk. If you leave it off hook and you have auto disconnect enabled it will release itself in a minute or so.

yea, i finally turned exclusive hold back on, and set hold recall timing to 0 on my phone, so i can just sit on it. i hate verizon.

they've tracked the problem down to a high resistance short. In the central office. they closed the original ticket with a "customer gets dial tone" response. ARGH. Yes, customer gets dial tone. that was never the problem. ah, well, the joys of being in NYC.
