Our Security department has made a request. They use the paging system to alert employees of weather emergencies (Kansas = tornadoes). This utilizes the PA system, connected via a Loop Start card, and the speakers on the phones. They have requested the ability to press buttons on the keypad to send tones. This is intended to get everyone's attention before saying the message. Currently, the keypad tones are muted during a page. I cannot find a flag that defeats this setting. I've found nothing about it in the installation manual.

That tone (DTMF) can be made louder (I believe) by viewing the trunk in OLM (online monitor) mode. You will see a xmit and receive gain in OLM

The issue is with the endpoints. During a page, the keypad tones are disabled on the originating endpoint. So if any buttons are pressed, no sound is heard by the phones receiving the page. Is there a way around it?

Is that paging trunk set up for DTMF signaling?

Try using an Exec phone and see if that works. They create their own DTMF.

550.4500 (4000 Series Executive Keyset) or
550.8560 (8000 Series Executive Keyset)

Both have onboard DSP's and generate their own DTMF.

Two issues. I don't have one to give to Security. Second, I just tried it. It didn't work. No keypad tones were heard.
