From the day we installed the NEC SL1100 there is an occasional beep on the line. On my end I just hear a second of dead noise and the person on the other end hears an actual beep. It sounds just like a call waiting beep. We do not have call waiting on our lines and our phone company has tested the line un-bridged from the phone system and we do not hear it. I read somewhere that it might be my voice that is triggering the phone to think there was a call waiting signal but I have no idea how to make it stop. Any ideas?

It's camp on call. Go to PRG 15.02.12 for that station and set it to something else..

I had this exact same issue, as did several others on the board. Do this:

14-02-24 Disable Use Call Waiting Caller ID

The symptom is onthe SL1100 site you lose audio - your outside party hear's a little beep..

Ahh. Interesting as that program block is not in the version we get here so i guess that's why i haven't come across this exact version of the problem. Here it's normal second call campon..

Try hooking the phone to another phone, or put both phones on a splitter on same line. Pick up head set of other phone, and this phone and check if hear a beep. Hang up bad phone, turn volume up on good phone, and all the way down on bad phone. Click hook switch on good phone a couple times and hang up. Pick up head set on bad phone, now good phone and check if beep is still there. Just a thought, I have heard this works. Let me know ...
