Cleaned up the phone room in my buddy's building today and removed this. Not too sure what its purpose was - 5 CO lines and 5 relays. Any ideas? There was no KTU equipment or anything.

Interesting, the building was not built until the early 80s.

I was thinking Horizon also, but not sure. The relays were for straight line sets, otherwise you had to rewire the sets and put a diode in them, it took one per SLT. I don't remember the wiring scheme.

They are all obviously slave relays since only four wires connect to each one. Two wires for the coil and two for the contact set.

I'm not sure what they used this setup for, but that's all that you have is a bunch of SPST or SPDT slave relay contacts.

i think bill has the answer. early horizon analog station ports were four wire from the switch. station ringing was provided on a separate pair. in order to reuse an existing slt, a port/station modification was needed so the phone would ring. not so on later versions.
