All;

I've got a 3-node CS-5200, ver 2.3.6.47 system. Currently everyone is using a central EM server at my corporate office.

I've recently noticed that my 2 remote systems each have Basic Voice Mail.

Currently, calls on a users assigned DID ring into the local system and are routed to a CRA on the central system for FAX detection (faxes are sent SMTP to the users email address, and then back to the users local node and ultimately to their extension.

Does the BVM of the CS-5200 support FAX to email capabilities (additional licensing?)? This would avoid having to send my calls through our WAN and back for FAX detection purposes.

I have a VERY similar situation as you and I was told by Inter-Tel that our 5000s couldn't do this. In our situation however the users extension/did and fax number are the same. If you want to assign your users different fax numbers then you should be able to do this.

The BVM's cannot handle faxes. You must use the EM server at this time.

Thanks!

I was trying to avoid having to have a EM server at each site just to eliminate traffic to the central EM server. The 2 remote sites are only 10-15 extensions, and I've got the bandwidth - just trying to simplify things.

Thanks!

We are using the MultiTech FaxFinder server at one of our nodes on a 5200 with BVM. It is not nearly as robust as EM, but it saves on network traffic. It also allows them to be self supporting in case of network issues.
