Don't really mess with 110 testing - but wanted to try this as , I'll come across 110 Bridged Blocks. I picked up a 110/RJ cable, thinking I could connect it on the 110 Block for a simple end2end continuity test.
The connector on the 110/RJ45 cord doesn't fit on these terminals. Am I missing something obvious ?

The cable adapter you show says it's cat 6 which may be thicker pins than the clip will allow. I would think there should be a cat 3 version. I can't tell from the picture what the clips are or the width of the pins on the male side of the cable you are trying to use.

I messed with it further.... FWIW, it's a C5E Ortronics 110-RJ45
Managed to get it on. It's tight. Freak1n Uber tight.... Taking it off, was a b1tch...the way the 110 clips onto the IDC, it's got some nubs on the connector that hang onto the IDC. Ontop of thick metal contacts on the cord, I must have pried for a bit with a flathead to get it off. We're talking ~quite~ some prying. Luckily, the IDC thing I was messing with was nothing special....
Anyhow, is there a better *110-RJ45* that ya'll use when you want to just connect the tester for a simple continutiy.

The 110 block shoe grabs on because you don't want it coming off during normal use (permanent installation). If you just want it to pop on and off for testing purposes, you'll have to modify it a little so that it doesn't grab those nubs and refuse to let go. The clip I referenced is more for testing individual pairs for dial tone with your butt set, and even if there is already a jumper in place.

The easy way to test is to just punch down some spare wire over the 110 block even if it is already terminated. Nothing special required. Try cutting an unused RJ45 patch cord in half if you want to put it in your cable tester. The wires in a patch cord are very small and unlikely to get stuck in the 110 connector.
If you want to get fancy then buy a 110-to-110 cable, cut it in half and put on a RJ-45 plug however you want.

Hey Butch -
The 110-110 cable I suspect will still be a b1tch for testing purposes, just like my 110-45 cable, which I bought with the intent, I could easily plug the 45 end into any tester.
The issues is the thickness of the metal inside the 110 side *very thick*, in addition to how the connector head fits onto the retaining nubs. Once you push it on, it is a bear to come off....
I'll just pick up a 110-45 adapter. They exist. I went with the patchcord route as I figuered it was WIN-WIN situation as it would have a 5 feet wire lead and all I would need to do is use the 45 end to connector to tester. I'm hunching the test adapters won't have *ribs* or will be bigger so that it won't latch onto the nubs of the IDC

I think what you are looking for is this from Sandman.com 110 Block to WECO Modular Adapter
This Adapter only clips onto a C-Clip that has no wires punched down on it.
Allows you to put a Tester or your Butt-Set Modular Adapter on the 110 Block.
Part Number: TOO6S Price: $16.95It can be found at the bottom of this page Testing and Repairing Phone Lines

I have a 110 patch cable here. I think you can modify the connector with your diagonal pliers so it won't stick too much in the 110 block.
The problem I have with the Sandman's prefab cable is that the plug is wired for WECO aka 568B. Now my cable tester tests the pins in this order: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
If the pins are wired WECO my tester will light up in this order: 3 4 5 (pause) 2 (pause) 1 (pause) 6 7 8
Of course this readout is totally confusing.
Why not just wire the RE-45 plugs the same way as the 110 ? Then your tester will show directly which 110 connector is faulty. For instance if 5 does not light up you know it is the fifth connector.
