I have recently inherited someone else's network phone system and am learning about the Inter-Tel product line and software. Its a 5400 system and we have 3 sla's for converting a digital port to 2 analog ports. I can't figure out how and what you connect from the SLA boxes to the System or Network. What I need to do is provide an analog port for a fax machine at a remote location on the property here. The remote location is on the LAN via a fibre connection and all their phones work fine. From looking at the existing SLA's - it appears they have 4 ports on them - 1 for power, 1 for SL1 and 1 for SL2, then a DKSC port. My assumption was that if I have an ethernet path back to the phone system - either through the internet or through a direct LAN connection, then I ought to have the capability of adding some converter that would essentially take a digital IP port and provide from that an analog port for fax/modem use. But it doesn't look that way. What is the DKSC port anyway - Digital Keyset or something? Where does that terminate on the system? Is there anything I can connect at that remote site's end on the network that would provide for faxing from there?

if you are networked with an iprc card it's not gonna work because inter-tel analog doesnt support the compression...

but heres the basic sla info anyway if you aint...

the DKSC is a digital keyset port, the sla converts it to analog.... the dksc connection to the sla has to be on the 2nd pr and programed as dual SL in the port config... there are also jumpers in the sla that have to be set to SL instead of DID...
you should get sl dt out of the sla... good luck on the lan transport.

I had the exact same issue a few years ago of trying to get a few fax lines working at a remote site that was connected via fibre to the main site.

I was able to get the fax lines working by using a set of VoIP Analog Adapters - one box for each side of the connection. I used the Mediatrix 1104 & 1204 (which I think have now been discontinued) but I bet a set of newer adapters from a different manufacture will work.

Do a Google search for "voip analog adapter" and you should find a few places that sell these adapters. Perhaps they will know which ones are compatible with the Inter-tel system, or maybe it doesn't even matter. I connected the port from the SLC into the sending apapter much like a fax would be connected, so it probably doesn't matter.
