We've acquired 2 Eclipse 2 cabinets with CPCs and a herd of installed cards. We've been trying to get into it with Session Manager which came on the CD included with it. We've read nearly this entire board finding similar problems with connecting to the database and have tried all of the suggestions regarding RS232, 8p8c rollovers with DB9 to RJ45 adapters (which came with). We have an existing working system so we are familiar with connecting via the top RS232 port as well as IP. With direct connection we get as far as the message of opening ASAI database, where it stops and times out. We read here where a guy needed to attach the voice mail PC in order to finish the connection, so we plugged it in using the same type of cable and connection locations as our existing is connected. Still cannot complete the connection. We used a terminal program connected to the top RS232 port and turned on the power supply and observed that there was connectivity as the CPC reported a boot version. We have also observed the leds on both CPCs for local sync and remote sync flashing frantically as if to say they cannot communicate. Our last thought was that we needed to connect the fiber ports on both CPCs so they could connect. Our original intention was to clear the database as we have no need for the previous owners settings. So, in lew of connecting as is, is there a means of blowing away the database without having connected, and having a factory default without losing any license that may have been uploaded to the CPC? Perhaps the CPCs are bad and thus the original owners sold the system. Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated. - - Jim

Just me and the crickets. Was that a stupid question? Maybe the CPC is just ready for bed.

It wasn't a stupid question Jim. Don't give up just yet. It doesn't look like Rhett or Chris have been here since you posted, but they'll probably be able to help.

My company does NOTHING with Eclipse so I don't want to speak out of school, but defaulting the system shouldn't be an issue.

jedwards,

Funny, I was just discussing this issue with a buddy of mine at Inter-Tel the other day. While I do not have a technically-oriented suggestion for you, perhaps my buddy, <IMG SRC="https://www.hammersource.com/Sledge_Hammers/IMAG054.JPG" WIDTH=76 HEIGHT=122 BORDER=0 ALT=""> "The Persuader", may be of assistance?

Hopefully, as MacGyver said, Chris and/or RCA will check in soon and have some additional suggestions!

I think the real issue here is that it is not in fact a CPC card but a 512 CPU. If it has fiber connections on it is cannot be a CPC. I would imagine one issue is that it is missing the Call Processing server. What is the part # of the processor? Did you get a CPS server with the setup?

Well, I do have a mallet. That one in the picture looks bronze.

The cards have CPU/PCM-F on both of them. We patched together the two with fiber patch cables and everything quieted down, all the other cards came on line and (as expected) the T1/E1 cards are in alarm.

We can plug an Ethernet cable between (it) and a laptop and ping 192.168.200.201 but can't even get a chance to login. Both have RS232C ports but we can't connect with session manager on either. Far as we get w/ serial is Logged in, awaiting ASAI connection.

As for the other stuff that came with it: we have a PC which exactly resembles the voicemail box on the system that's working. But there's a black rack-mount box that we haven't hooked up yet. We hadn't thought to because the existing system doesn't have one. But....the existing system has a card called a CPC. So perhaps the black box serves as the call processor?

In our defense (really isn't one) we're really very good at computer systems, LANs and WANs and routers. But we are so tiny and child-like when it comes to phone systems. We have a telco company that are actually very good at this but they ran like heck when they saw it. I suppose because of the cost of sorting all of this out.
