Has anyone ever rebuilt a Compact flash for the SVMi-4
I have the SVM files from Samsung however if i do a copy to them the serial says no operating system found. tried to create the autoexec.bat manually in command promt and still no good. if i used rufus to load freedos on the card the vm will start freedos.
Any help greatly appreciated Andrew

Yes it can be done.
Easiest way is to have a working one cf card, and the new one in the pc/laptop at the same time.
You could then either make the new card bootable via the old card or use some clone software (eg ghost or clonezilla)

Yeah i thought that too. only issue my cf reader was faulty and killed the cf card i now have 3 vm that don't work. I spoke to samsung about it. there used to be a utility called SVM boot utility never released to tech. but no one can find it. cant manually create a boot disk as you need a 98 or me machine with CF reader/writer to run 16bit program NTVDM wont run fdisk or sys

dosbox will run 16bit apps on newer os.
I've done if for the old DCS PCMMC and it works, even via dialup modem.
