When I worked for a well known CLEC I had several arguments with my supervisor as to which side of the "RJ21X" we (the carrier) was supposed to punch down on.
The general consensus among the "techs" was to use the amphenol connector so they didn't have to punch anything. If they didn't have the blocks with the amphenol connectors they'd punch the 'easy' side..
It's amazing how many 'smart people' know so little...
Ever wonder why so many of those orange covers are hanging by one hinge?

In Illinois it's pretty staright forward. The telco has to provide DT on the left side. Who provides bridge clips I still stand by the telco because they are responsible to bring DT to the right side of the block RJ21x.

Bridge Clips would be nice to provide, we have had cross connect wire tagged with the line and no RJ coming directly out of there main terminal, had to put our own RJ up! Telcos getting slacker and slacker

The original post asked who was to provide clips, if im done with my end i will provide them and test through them to the equipment with a tag on the telco side letting them know where i want the circuit. when you order or your customer orders service they must state where they want the demarc or extended demarc and what it will be. the bottom line is dont rely on them to place them unless you alredy want/need to go back to the site.

Im just happy if they show up and get me dial tone...Im even happier if they don't put the RJ21x right in the middle of my frame... In my 20 years or so of doing this I have never seen the phone company provide bridging clips.

Telcos charge $125 or $175 for an RJ21X. Their cost is about $5. Given that margin, I think they should throw in a couple of bags of clips. I worked for a clec and had the same discussion about left side right side, nobody cared but we did leave a bag of clips.

they might charge big bucks but only if my customers prefer them to placeit and the cabling from the terminal or demarc if they need it extended.i charge it to t&m. here in nj they have and do place them. but you can bet that if they could eliminate them from there store rm stock they would.

Next let’s expect them to put the blocks up level. You can train the local area techs buy constantly opening NDT repair tickets by connecting to the Amphenol and extending the DT to your block. God forbid you open the cover. Try it next time when you are early on a new install when the customer has not cut to service yet. If we all do it, who knows? Too bad they always deliver the lines 4 days after the customer moved in when the order was placed 6 months early so there would be no problems. I went to a job once where the power-supply brick and for the new smart-jack was sticky taped to the wall. (fell to the floor later that same day) I should not expect bridge clips left behind when it’s worth celebrating the dialtone is working.
