I'm looking for a portable device that can be plugged inline or not onto a POTS line and will show the number that has been dialed. I have done a Google search and only find devices that decode an audio file which isn't what I am looking for.

I have had a few callouts that they said the line wasn't working and I find the line is just fine. When I ask about the number being dialed they have no idea what it is as it's software programmed. These are on POS, and autodial systems.

Anybody know anything that might do what I want done?

Sounds like you're looking for a digit grabber, I don't know if they make one you can just leave on the line to look at history or not.

Google Digit Grabber. I have one in my truck, I'll get you the make and model later tonight. Got mine off of eBay years ago

I don't need to leave on the line, I just want to be able to capture what is being dialed out at that moment.

Thank you for the info.

I looked on eBay and found two. A MetroTel CID150B ($80.99) and a Metro Tel CID150G ($229.97 +shipping)

There are several. If you do not have a good butt set, may I suggest T3 Innovation TLA300-1 Tel Scope Telco Telephone Line Analyzer. Not only will it give you the digits dialed, it also provides Caller ID. This set is also very helpful if you are in a terminal and have a mix of digital and analog lines to test.

From Mike Sandman: Tone-Master TM-16 PLUS with RS-232 Serial Port

From Ebay: Fluke ts52 pro. It will do both digit grab and Caller ID. They go for around $70 and I know you LOVE Fluke test equipment

Rcaman

I have a top of the line Harris butt set and I would like to get the Fluke but I just can't justify it since my current one is in such good shape.

I looked at the TM-16 PLUS and it looked like it did do what I wanted but after reading it again I think it does and even more. The only problem is the price.

The T looks very good but I already have a good but sett.

Thanks for the info.
