This is a new post for the External Notification issue I have been dealing with awhile.

LVMU with SMDI integration will not always grab a line for external notification. In fact only about 40% of the time.

I replaced the LVMU with no effect on this issue. I would have replaced the processor, but didn't have a spar with 58 basic port licenses.

LVMU is in slot 4 of the first cabinet. While replacing the cabinet, I found a possible reason this system is acting in such a way. A while back, customer replaced some drywall above the cabinet and whomever did it, let the cuttings fall on top of the cabinet significantly blocking air flow. Everything was exposed to more heat than normal. After replacing the cabinet, the condition persists.

I have seen Toshiba gear work well under horrendous conditions. This one is working perfectly except for the LVMU won't always access a line. I find it hard to except heat damage caused just this one symptom.

Is there any ideas out there? I hate these intermittent issues!!!!

What no help!!

Well, after replacing the processor, sub-cabinet and the LVMU, I found a rather simple work around.

All I did was increase the remote attempts and shorten the time between attempts. This netted good results but sometimes it's a nuisance when clients get multiple notifications.

Are LVMU's typically flaky at grabbing a line?

Consider this issue solved.

I haven't seen this type of problem before.
