I have a comdial CID08 connected to a comdial unison 616 that's been working for years. Bad storm hit the CO line and caller ID stopped working. I see where two of the pins on the rj45 CO port on the CID08 was burnt. I've replaced the CID08,the serial connector and all cables but still can't get any caller ID. Before I go trying to find a TX232 board for the system I took the CID08 box back to our shop and put dial tone into it and connected to my laptop with hyper terminal. When I call I get the data light to flash but nothing on my laptop. Do I need to be connected to the dialtone that is also in the comdial system to get data or should I get it just the way I have it connected in the shop Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's been a while. But from what I remember if you get the data light flash the unit is good I have a feeling your control unit is bad
