Hi guys,

I have my first SL2100 to install but the problem is, I know little about them. I never even had to do a SL1100! The system will have 3 IP handsets but I can bring in assistance, however I want to try and learn. So my question is, does anybody have a cheat sheet for the SL2100 or 1100 that I could get a copy of to see if I can have a play with the system as the install has been delayed by the builder giving me time to play with it on the bench!

Thanks in advance

R4

Have you done anything on the SV8100 or 9100? They are all similar.

Your best bet if you haven't already is sign up with NEC NTAC, once you have a tech ID you can access the training videos.

Thanks guys, I have access to the Australian version of your NTAC but couldn't find any training videos. I got the manuals PcPro and TIBs but I have now managed to get the IP phones working. All else that I need to change seems pretty straight forward. One more question though, when you set incoming calls on PSTN lines to go to the default inmail group, what mailbox number does that go into (for putting a key on a phone)? I have been using a DIL to a forwarded virtual but if there is a better way then I need to know.

Make sure the virtual has a mailbox. We usually set the virtual to cf/b/na to inmail, then place an in skin button (77) on a button of a phone. When a message is sent to the virtual mailbox, the in skin button flashes. Just press it to retrieve the message. We label it a general mail box button.
Or, you can make the virtual a group mailbox, cf/b/na to vm, send it to a routing box, in 47-11 default mailbox set it as station, and place the mailbox number there. That could be any station mailbox, not just a virtual.

I have been setting it up as you say with a DIL to a virtual which has a mailbox and then putting it on a 77 button but I'm told that if you want, you can use the setup wizard to program where the lines go and that sends calls to a ring group associated with the inmail. I am interested in finding out where that ring group takes the calls to in the inmail so I can put that on a 77 button, or is it programmable?

you can redirect a call with a 1 touch from the dial action table. The call must originate, or come in to a ring group first, no AA first. It then sends the call back to the originating ring group. Using a 1 touch transfer to a virtual placed on several phones, you get grater flexibility in that you can call forward the virtual to the AA and have it go back into a routing table or to a specific mailbox.

If I could only understand whet you said, I'm sure it would help but unfortunately after 40 years in the industry, most of them spent on the mid to larger NEC systems, I am completely at a loss as to what you said!

Give me some time and I am sure I will get it! I have now managed two basic installs on SL1100 and one on SL2100 and I am getting quicker! :-)

Since these systems are so versatile it would be best if you gave a scenario on what you want the system to do when a calls rings in?
Once we have that one or more of us can PM you with recommendations.

I thought I had already given a scenario! You set the system up using the wizard and the night destination becomes a ring group assigned solely to inmail. when that happens, what mailbox is associated with that ring group and how do I access it, or is it programmable and if so how?

Don't think I can state the question any plainer!
