Hi, is there a way to set outbound calling party number per station to 'unknown' or 'private' ? I know we can set it to some bogus number but I have been asked specifically about those two options.

Thanks!

Ask your telecom service provider.

I meant to override the telco default with 'unknown' instead of a specific DID.

Your telco provider would need to remove caller id from your service.

I would like do to a simular thing.

I would like to set the caller ID on all my outgoing call to show one number.

I asked my Telco and they cannot.
Is there a setting on the phone system, DB 9.x, to override the caller ID from telco to whatever I enter? If so what do I need to get my telco to do to allow this?

I just changed my POTs lines to a diff service and did not keep the same numbers. These are not my published numbers so no need to keep them. But too many do *69 or save the numbers to their cell phones.

I would like to avoid these issues in the future and only show one number from all my lines, or at least by trunk.

I think you need PRI service to provide custom caller-ID.

Only on PRI? Do you think a Vonage or other VOIP would have custom caller-id?

Only on a PRI, Then you set the outbound number under each station's individual programming. I believe there is a set of numbers that will give out unknown number but I can't remember it from class. Try all 0's or all 5's.

I believe is now against the rules to show anything other than your number or block your number, and some carriers will not allow you to even block your number.

I used to program my friend's home number as my station calling party number. Then I'd call his cell phone while he was at work. He'd recognize the caller id and quizically say Hello? I'd then whisper "I'm in your house!" and hang up. The third time I did it, he got in his car and went home to check it out.

I fessed up about what I did about a month later which earned me a sock in the arm and some choice words. smile
