We have an 800 number people can call and enter the ext number of the person they wish to talk to, if that person is not available, the call is suppose to go to their voice mail, instead, it's routing the caller back to the original menu and asking them to enter the extension number of the person they wish to speak to. The phone system also does this when we transfer an outside call to another party and they don't pick up, rather than go to voice mail, it goes back to the number that transferred the caller. Is this two different issues? and is there a global setting to change so that all calls that come from this 800 number forward to voice mail if n/a or busy? Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Is this happening on all calls to all extensions or just a few?

If just a few, ensure that system forwarding is enabled for the extensions affected. This can be done through Station Flags or by dialing the feature code 352 to enable.

Also ensure that in Station Forwarding Paths, Fwd Call Type - Co Tranfer/AA/VM is set to "YES"

You will also need to be sure associated extensions are set for Voice mail. Go to the ext open associated and be sure it has vm in it (vm being the extension you have as the vm app in VM/Devices/applications. If you have a forward path for the ext look at the forward path it needs to be pointed at the same app as you put in the associated ext
