Not sure about a mod meet but when I get done my buildings I'll have a great place for a BBQ/Lobster Bake in the back yard.

Not quite ready to retire. So some company offered me per diem work to pull cable. I made more in 6 months than I made last year and I don't have to think, just show up. They can't get youngsters on the east coast to do manual labor so they'll pay old men (I'm 55) in my mind ridiculous amounts of money to pull a cable from here to there snd terminate and test.

Amazing what this industry and the world in general has become. Used to be young cable pullers were a dime a dozen. They were eager to learn and have work.

I remember in 1976 I was working for somebody who opened a shop in Southern California (along with his shop in NYC). He said his biggest problem was getting cable pillars to show up to work when the weather was good. We (here in NYC) were shocked.

They used to say that every trend in America starts in California.

I guess they were right.

Back in '74, when I got out of high school, the local IBEW took over 200 applications for a half dozen apprenticeship openings. Now that same local advertises on tv looking for applicants. Guys don't want to do physical labor anymore.
