Can these units be reinitialized with a telephone, Like 3500, 5000, XTS?

Not sure which model you are talking about, but yes you can initialize with a telephone. Flash 80. If it is a Vodavi STS or STSe, you have to use a 3515 phone unless you have the "gold" software, which would allow you to use the XTS 30 button UNI phones. Since you are replacing the internal battery though, why not just flip the dipswitch?
