Hi, Can someone point me in the right direction?
On a SL1100 system, when there are messages on the operator extension, a few of the other extensions have their message light blinking and a message on the display showing the extension number and name of the operator extension, but most of the other extensions do not show this or blink their message lights.
Where is it set using PCPro or WebPro what extensions will notify that there are messages at the operator extension?
Thanks,
Ralph

It sounds to me you have message notification mixed up with voice mail notification
The difference Message notification: You call another extension and if no answer you can press mw softkey or dial a service code, this will light the lamp and show your extension in the display. The person returns to their phone, sees their lamp flashing, presses the mw key and it returns the call to your phone.
Voice Mail notification: When a message is left in the voicemail box the system lights the lamp with the number of messages. It can only light the lamp on that 1 phone however a in-skin voicemail key for a mailbox can be assign to any physical button, lets say mailbox 101, when a message is left in mailbox 101 it will light the lamp on extension 101 and the in-skin voicemail key 101 will flash on any phone it was assign to.

You'er right I'm using he wrong wording.
When a voice mail message is left on extension 101, there are 3 other extensions, out of 16, that show "101 Operator" on the LDC display, replacing the normal display, and also the light blinks the same as if there were a voicemail on their own extension. The other 13 phones don't do that.
I looked in 15-07 Function Keys, on those 3 extensions and don't see anything there except *01- Trunk Key or 00-None, there is no "77 - In-Skin Voicemail" on any of those phones.
Is there something else you can suggest?
Thanks.

You may want to check message notification in mailbox 101 - it may be set to dial the other extensions when a message is left in mailbox 101

You can dial *0 on the extension with the message light and it will call the "sender" which may just be another extension. You can disable the feature in the class of service and set the appropriate class for voicemail extensions so they can still turn on the MW light.

Hmm. Nothing in 47-20 : Station Mailbox Message Notification Options on the mailbox for extension 101.
I'll try the other suggestion - This is in another office, so I'll make a trip over there and also verify what they are telling me.

OK, a trip over there cleared things up. dans you were correct it was message waiting so I was asking completely the wrong question. 773 cleared it, and tpayson thanks I disabled that feature in class of service. I Appreciate the help, thanks again.

FYI, It is recommended to disable message waiting if voicemail is installed.

OK thanks. None of our NEC systems, installed by different companies in different locations, have message waiting disabled. Since it always seems to cause confusion, and serves little purpose especially in smaller offices, I'll be disabling it everywhere.
