someone called and they bought a kx-tda50 system and i went over and powered it up. the red alarm light is lit steady. is this anything to be concerned about. thanks dave

No. The alarm light is on about 99% of the time. It indicates things like missed sync to voice mail, power failure, a glitch in the system, or seeing if you're paying attention :-)
I think in 12 years the red light has only been out when I log into the system about once a year or the power fails.

What Carl said. Every single one I've encountered has the alarm light on, and it is almost always due to a power outage at some point. If I'm already connected and programming, I'll clear it, but I never go out of my way for it.

I always tell the customer to ignore it and clear on every visit.
Only 1 have I had to put a piece of tape over it to relieve there anxiety.
