I recently did a move of two stations where the end users were keeping their existing extensions but were moving offices. The first one was moving into an office that wasn't occupied but had an assigned extension. So I just reassigned the extension to the new location using the drop down in the Station menu. I then shifted the other to the location where the first one had been assigned. What the problem is that when I dial the number both internally and externally the voice mail message that comes up is of the previously assigned extension. Can't figure why that has happen and my guess is that I did something wrong in the moves. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to make sure I provided all the information I had.
Thanks.

First I would put everything back. That is not the way to move exts. Either, and prefered move the cross connect. Second and not the best option but better than what you did would be to go to a 6 line display phone that is an admin phone and do an ext swap through programming. You can not swap the phone you are doing the swap from so go to 1000 if you are moving 1001 and 1005 etc

The original method will work, if you first delete the mailboxes, and then create new ones after swapping the stations. You would also need to check any other programming, such as DIDs, attendant stations, outbound access, etc.

However, I would do it Randy's way first.

I have the admin guide and can't find anywhere about using the admin station to reprogram the extensions i want to swap. is there anything wrong with deleting the vm and then using the drop down to change the extension?

What version are you? I don't think the swap feature came around until V 8.X or so.

The method is really not for the open forums as you have to be careful not to immediately reset the system once the swap is done.

Your vendor may be able to lead you in the right direction.

DND ON answered this in his post. It has the potential to get very messy that way as you have to check several things to get the programming right.
