Not for all the tea in China...but if you're talking Teamviewer have you exhausted their website: https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/documents/

Connectwise Control has a free 3 session account. I have it at home and family member computers for support. I use their paid service in my IT business.

Splashtop I'm told is another decent alternative, not too pricey.

We use the commercial version of Connectwise, but I also use the free version for a couple of PCs.

Teamviewer is probably the best of the free versions, but that is probably why they are trying to crack down on heavy users.

There is also https://www.remoteutilities.com/buy/free.php
Years ago I tried using http://www.ammyy.com/en/ . I accidentally let a random hacker in (you have to accept an invention). He took control of my mouse and claimed to be IT (he wasn't). I uninstalled and never went back.

I have Teamviewer paf. I just used 14.3.4730 this morning and it worked. I've used Aeroadmin but it's kinda finicky.

I've been having the same problem with Teamviewer. I used it heavily while I was in the hospital for a few weeks to access my computer at home from my laptop. Since I've been home, I have kept doing it, even within the house. They flagged me as a commercial user and offered me an option to explain my usage, but after a week or so, I haven't heard anything from them. I guess it's pay or no play. I might just go ahead and do it since I rely upon it for accessing a whole lot more computers than just mine. Hell, supporting my elderly parents' computers are almost a full time job with their never-ending issues.

Teamviewer flagged me as commercial last week. I haven't looked for alternative yet or may have my customer pay for it.

Teamview is getting piggy. $49 a month??? I have a Raspberry Pi in my hospitality and key accounts sites. For casual, it looks like Aeroadmin, free, or if I have to pay, $56 a year is looking better. https://www.aeroadmin.com/en/buy.html#full-license-comparison

Another thought, is that we go together as a group and buy a 10 or so user 2 year license for about $40 per user.
We'd need someone to administer it, but the company said it would be O.K. if we want to do that.

Any takers? Or best, go to the website and download the free version. If you like it, we can talk about it.

I use Chrome Remote Desktop. It's free to use. You can set up unattended connections and have access to multiple clients under the same account like TeamViewer. You can transfer files between your computer and the host. There's an Android and Apple app for it too.

Just a follow up on this subject. I sent them a message to assure them that I was not using it for commercial use, but never received a reply. Fortunately, I have not really needed to use it lately, but I gave it a try today to help my mom out with an issue she was having on her laptop. The 'commercial use' warning still came up, but it said it would give me five minutes. I rushed and got everything done that I needed to do, and once I was done, I realized that it had been nearly 15 minutes. I wonder how much validity there is to their warnings? Maybe they are all talk and no action. I didn't want to push the issue, but for me, I didn't have any issues today. Maybe they're just trying to scare everyone into buying a monthly subscription?

Normally, when you are limited to 5 minutes, they are serious about that. After 5 minutes of connect, you have to wait another 5 minutes before reconnecting for another 5 minutes.

I recommend AnyDesk. I have used it to support remote systems and it works well. It also allows unlicensed remote access with a password. I haven't had to pay a dime.

Donna is correct.
I have never had issues with team viewer.
But if you are flagged as a commercial user , You probably would play hell to correct it.
Begging for forgiveness.

Just create another account.

I'm bringing this subject back up because my original issues went away on their own. Maybe my correspondence with them, though never answered, led them to release my free account. I wasn't having any issues until now. I have a PC at home that runs XP-SP3 specifically for older phone/voice mail system programming tools. I remote into it frequently even though it's just down the hall. Anyway, I started receiving warnings that the TV version on that PC was outdated, although when I attempt to update it, I'm told that I'm running the most current version. I even went as far as to uninstall it from the XP PC and reinstall, but instead of the newer version 15, it sends me back to version 14 that is supposedly outdated. For this, I'm limited to five minutes per session. As usual, their support people don't answer any help requests.

Any ideas or suggestions as to what I can do? 90% of what I use TV for is helping my relatives with their computer issues. That's what TV says the free version is supposed to be used for. I'm really not interested in starting over with something else if I can avoid it since my relatives are scattered all over the place. If I have to help them with their AOL issues, I sure can't count upon them to install something new.

It could just the fact that it is XP.
It has been EOL for many years.
Even though it is a stable OS.

You say you use TV to connect to it from something else.
Whatever that is does the other PC work okay?
What is the OS on that machine?

I am on win 10 now but I have never had issues with Teamviewer.
But I do not connect to xp machines anymore.

I have a mix of devices, although most that I use Teamviewer for are Windows 10. I do access some Windows 7 computers for my parents, etc. with no issues. It's only this one XP machine that is timing out after a five-minute session. Like I said, they say it's an outdated version of Teamviewer, but when I go to upgrade it, it says that I'm using the most current version and no upgrade is available. Of course, they never reply to my help request messages.

Probably like Firefox. The current version you download for XP is special and hasn't changed in a long time. It will tell you that you are using the most current version too. It isn't the same as the versions for 7 and 10 which are still being updated and upgraded. (I refuse to recognize that disaster they called Windows 8. sick)
