For the past month or so i've had a random occurences of users not being able to hear the caller they are talking to.
Example, someone calls me, i pick up, i say hello, they can hear me but i can't hear them.
It seems to be on both IC and external calls, and can be for the person making or receiving the call.
So far i believe it's just on the Non IP phones as we do have both but we have so few IP phones it just may be they aren't the ones with the random issues.

I called my vendor and a tech came in to pull logs but said he couldn't find anything.

Has anyone heard of this issue and could possibly shed some light on it?

I've tried resetting the entire system (power off both power supplies at the end of the day) and this seems to fix it for a day or so but then it comes back.

Any help is appreciated.

thanks,
Andy

The first question that comes to mind is exactly which extentions are experiencing this? As vicbob suggested, it's sounding like the problem will probably be isolated to one specific station card. If so then you'll want to try swapping two station cards in your cabinet to see if the problem stays with the card, or the slot. Also as vicbob suggested, clean the card contacts. A good way to do that is with a soft pink pencil eraser. If the problem stays with the card, contact Tom at Sundance by clicking the link at the top of this page. He has a good supply of station cards at a good price. If the problem doesn't move with the card, you may have a bad slot on the backboard, or a CPU card starting to go down.

Handset cord? Had a lot of occurances like this lately here where the coil-cords have started giving up the ghost.

I know it's been a while but i've tried new cords and resetting the system, and even the removing each card and cleaning contacts with alcohol.

Still have the random one way audio happening constantly throughout the day. If ti is a CPU card slowdown - what would I have to do , get a new CPU card and reprogram it? Or could I somehow transfer
the programming?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,
Have you had the lines checked from your dialtone provider? That might be a start, I guess it could be a CPC but I wouldn't think that would be the issue. You can with the proper software download and restore the database. I would have your vendor open a ticket with support and send them the logs. Have your staff start pressing ##### after every failure on audio, this will tag the calls with the issue. Because you said power supplies I trust you have a access what software level?
Hope this helps

You said you'd removed and cleaned the cards, but did you ever swap the station cards? Are all user's getting this at the same time? If extentions 1000-1003 (on your first station card) are having the problem, and none of the extensions on your second station card are having the problem, then try swapping the station cards in your cabinet. If the problem moves with the card, you've found your answer.

Thanks for the responses.

MVSpeed - The issue is on IC and external calls so i don't think its an issue with my PRI. I did have PaeTec check them ust to be sure and they said they saw no issues in the logs.

MacGyver-
I've seen this happen on a bunch of cards, but i'm not sure if it's all of them so maybe i've got a few bad cards? I have one spare card so ill try this and see if i can isolate the issue.

Thanks!
