I have an IP phone that has a strange problem. When making or answering a call the link is dead. Neither side can hear.
Had this problem off an on for a while. The phone is in the UK and I am in the US so that makes it more fun..
First I went into programming and pointed the phone by MAC address to a diff station so got fresh settings. No difference.
So sent a replacement phone. Replacement phone is doing it now too. It works in general, connects gets ext info. Gets dial tone. Can hear the ringing on the handset but once answered -- dead air.
Is there something I can test on the network on the remote side? Verify can telnet IP Ports? This is the only phone / location I know if having this problem.
Thank you

Usually when you have an audio issue it is because of a double NAT. Put the IP Phone in the UK into a DMZ or directly on the WAN. See if the problem is still there.

I have an IP phone on a DSL in the UK. If the phone is not used for a while, it looses audio. Have the user power cycle the phone. That works for us. I can't prove it, but it seems that the UK DSL connection blocks unused ports. Once the phone is rebooted, the ports are opened again.
