Hi, I recently came across a posting that asked about
"routing all incoming calls to a "holding box." While in this box, callers will be listening to "music on hold" that is provided by an external source. Callers will then be pulled out of the box in the order they were placed in by a receptionist when he/she is ready."
The reply said it was done in a hunt group. Could anyone direct me on how to set this up. The music isn't as important as having the receptionist phone ring in the order of the incoming calls that are waiting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Look in your admin manual or help in DB Studio for setting up a queue. Just a word of warning though. When programming a system like this, it isn't a matter of just checking a box and having a nice GUI pop up to set up the task. Inter-tel systems require you to have a working knowledge of several different areas to get all this configured correctly. You really might want to consider getting a tech to set it up for you. If not, make sure you have good system back-ups.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
I have done quite a bit in db studio, learning as I go. I've set up hunt groups with extension lists, mailboxes, call routing announcements (fax and prompts), etc..
Is this task alot more involved than those. I would like to do it myself rather than pay a tech to come in, unless I could really mess up the DB.

It's a bit more involved than that. Since I don't know your abilities I wouldn't say you couldn't do it, but it may take more time than you wanted to invest. Again I'd just suggest that you have good backups, and also suggest that you play with it after hours so your system doesn't go down in the middle of the business day.

Thanks for your help.
I think I'm going to take your suggestion and call a tech rather than chance blowing up the system.

I'm don't think you'd blow it up. You might have all the calls ringing into the janitor's closet for a few days though.
Glad to help. Once it's configured let us know if you need any help with anything else. :thumb:
