My company has an Inter-Tel Axxess system. One of the phones has begun to act strange. It will blink as though there are 9 message waiting but when the employees dials into the VM system it takes 3 tries of his PIN to get access. Then there will only be 2 messages unheard. After those messages are deleted and another message is left, the phone will blink for 10 messages even though there is only 1 on the system. Any suggestions? We have switched out the phone and the issue continues.

What version is this system? If it's just the one mailbox try deleting and recreating it.

Do you mean deleting it in the system and recreating it? We are using system 9.1 DB Studio 1.63

I deleted it and the problem still exists. What should I try now?

If I try to access VM from the phone, it will not accept the password. If I dial into the mail number and go into the VM system, it will accept the password. I am at a loss.

Maybe it's not a voice mail message. If someone calls that station, presses the message key on their phone and hangs up, the message lamp will light.
Or, the station could have more than one mailbox associated with it. In programming, look under System / Devices and Feature Codes / Stations / Mailboxes. It will show all the mailboxes associated with that station.
If the lamp is flashing, try pressing the message key with the handset in the cradle. The display will show the message source - either a mailbox number or another station that lit the lamp.

You may have more than one mailbox alerting that station.
